As a non profit group we are committed to bringing awareness, acceptance and support to families with special healthcare needs in our community. One way we do that is by providing social opportunities both specific to the special needs community, as well as inclusion within families and typically developing peers.
One of our goals is to partner with our community to make sure our families feel accepted, comfortable, and supported. We started this initiative as a way to bring inclusion into Fort Dodge. On May 7, 2020 we donated sensory bags and information to the Fort Dodge Fire Department as well as surrounding areas to ensure that our children with autism and other disabilities are supported in every way possible. Kids and adults with autism are often scared of the emergency vehicles and equipment along with the sensory overload of an emergent situation. These sensory bags are an effort to ease the situation for anyone potentially involved in an emergent event. They will hopefully bring comfort and support to the families in our special needs communities. Sensory bags were donated to the following communities: Fort Dodge, Humboldt, Badger, Clare, Barnum, Manson, Otho, Callendar, Gowrie, Lehigh, Dayton, Moorland, Duncombe, Vincent, & Webster city
We are committed to helping the Fort Dodge area with raising Autism Awareness and Acceptance for individuals on the spectrum. We plan events in the community for individuals with Autism and their families. We are ALL inclusive so our events include ALL individuals with special needs. Special needs is defined as having any physical, emotional, behavioral or learning impairment/disability that causes the child to need accommodations to participate. We also provide educational resources and meetings to promote awareness.
Are you passionate about what we're doing? Let us know! We are always looking for volunteers to help us make our vision a reality. Whether you want to join the board or volunteer at events, we're excited to have you join the team!
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
We are dedicated to improving the lives of those in our community. Your contribution today helps us make a difference.
